I am trying to add a field to a report in Dynamics 4.0. There doesn;t seem to be any documentation so I am trying to experiment. I took a function that looked like it was part of the report, and copied it:
display ItemName itemName()
Then simply change the name to the field I want, I get a compile error for Syntax.
I am completely lost as to how to add a field to a report in ax 4. Any Help Appreciated
MorphX reports are more or less the same in AX 4.0 as in AX 2009 (MSDN: MorphX Reporting Tools). Usually you should simply use a field from data source.
Also don't forget that you have AOT full of examples.
I have been trying to go through examples, but am still having a hard time. For example, I copied a display function, renamed it and added a return from a table, but the compiler tells me the name is incorrect. I don't understand how changing the name of an existing function can throw an error
display Price pmf_Price()
return salesLine.SalesPrice / SalesLine.PriceUnit;
You forgot to tell us what the compiler told to you, but it likely means that you don't have any variable called salesLine.
Where are you write this method? It would make sense to write on SalesLine table itself (if such information doesn't already exist there), but then you need to refer to the instance itself (= this.SalesPrice).
The compiler message is: "Error re the type of pmf_Price."
The Salesline identifier is the name of a table. so its tablename.fieldname.
I just dont understand the compiler message. even if I remove the internal code i get the same message.
Your help has been greatly appreciated
I've never seen any error of that wording in AX. Is it the exact wording? Can you also answer my previous question about where you wrote your code?
Table names and variable names are two different things. Just that you have a table of some name doesn't mean that you have a variable of that name in current scope.
inside of a Section Group called ProdTable. This is tied to a table of the same name. It seems like the wrong place to put it, but this is where the meat of the report is contained. Though there are methods that reference other tables inside this section.
This is also the body
I have seen that error (Error re: the type of %1) in AX 2009. The problem in my case was that the type of the report field was Integer and the field's EDT type in dataField property was RefRecId. So the problem was that RefRecId is Int64 and field had the type Integer. I re-created the report field with type Int64 and problem was solved.
