I want to save all my fields on EP page just before every EP session timeout.
To do so I already have a Save method which I am using for Save button.
Is there any SharePoint timer which I can access and Save all my content just before session timeout.
Hi Khurshid Wali,
After discussion with SharePoint experts, there is no such SharePoint timer. You may consider to customize the EP page to store the field content in application variable before submitting, and if session times out, you can read the value from it, which may be similar to your save method.
Thank you Ada Ding for replying.
Your solution is not possible because I have many Pages with different types of Field handling.
After some search I found that the Timer which I want to use is ASP.NET Session.Timeout which is currently 20 min.
I need to run my Savebutton event when it it about to expire.
I found Session_End event which is fired when Session is about to expire.
which is not working in my webcontrol cs class even after setting session mode to InProc in web.config file.
then I found that Session_End method will only run inside Global.ascx and there is not Global.ascx in EP web control.
Is there any way to get this functionality?
I even tried to use auto save timer which keep calling server method after regular interval but it reset Session.timeout Timer which is not proper way!
Actually, this is an ASP.NET question rather than AX or SharePoint issue. As an ASP.NET application, EP supports Global.asax. You can create it if it does not exist. However, if you need to store the field value in all the pages, then you may deal with each pages. I suggest to seek more suggestions in ASP.NET forum.
Hi Ada Ding,
I tried to add Global.asax to webcontrol project and added session_state inproc to web.config which is required for session_end event handler.
As a result Ep did not load any image for all EP pages so I have to revert web.config file.
Which session_state is used by EP by default?
where to put Global.asax?
//I know it is ASP.NET question but it is also EP question.
