AX 2012 R2......We have our main inventory warehouse setup as 1000 and our purchasing / receiving warehouse as 1003. Item coverage has safety stock in 1000 for items which is generating planned purchase orders so everything is working as planned for that part. With the purchasing being setup 1003 I am seeing the same item numbers being regenerated in planned purchases even though the purchase order for that item has already been issued in 1003. It looks like AX is not considering the POs in 1003, is this a setting issue or a warehouse setup issue?
It might be related to many settings of the master planning and coverage groups. E.g. positive and negative days can play a role here. If you have a partner, try to get some advice on the best setup for your scenarios.
On the Storage dimension group for the Item, do you have 'Coverage plan by dimension' ticked on the Warehouse line? I'm gonna assume Yes!
It sounds to me like you want to receive items in to Warehouse 1003, and transfer them from 1003 to 1000. Is that right?
On Item coverage for each Item, you need to configure a line for Warehouse 1000 which has a Planned order type of 'Transfer' and a Main warehouse of '1003'.
Thanks for the information, I am the changes to an item for testing. The demand from the 1000 inventory warehouse no longer showed in Planned purchases, however I changed the SS setting in 1000 inventory warehouse from 100 to 3,000 which should have driven a planned purchase on the next MRP run. It did not show up on MRP, now it looks like SS settings in 1000 will be ignored.
update on this, not sure why the first time it didn't work correctly but now it is. So for item a I have a PO issued for 100pcs in the purchasing and receiving warehouse 1003, in the inventory warehouse 1000 I have the item requirements set to transfer and warehouse 1003. I changed the SS setting to 3000 and ran MRP, it now shows a planned purchase order for 2,600 pcs which is correct. It also shows a planned transfer which is a new thing, I am not sure what to do with the planned transfer. The transfer is showing 2,777 pcs,.
The planned transfer is a suggestion to transfer units from warehouse 1003 to warehouse 1000. If you firm it, it will create a Transfer order (or, if you prefer, a Transfer journal).
That makes sense, can the transfer order be made right away or does it need to wait till you actually receive the items from the PO in 1003?
