Has anyone had below error message while import customer data?

I was importing new customer data by Data management, not updating customer data.

Hi @STP,

If you want to import new customer you must set customer number empty and then in mapping details set the field as auto-generated.

Hi,

Yes just delete this column from the file and import the rest and the number sequence will be auto generated for this new customer and it will be created successfully. However, If you would like to specify the number sequence for that new customer, then I think u need to switch the number sequence setting to manual.

@Layan,

I have already setup the number sequence as manual for Customer account.

The issue is I still got the error message even the number sequence has been setup as Manual.

Are you trying to import any other customer related data in the data project? Maybe contacts or addresses?

Hi,

Looks like you are trying to validate and import data for an existing customer. If number sequence is set to manual ensure that the customer is first cleaned up from the system, before you try importing the customer data. The import won't work if the customer exists and the account number sequence is set to Manual.

Also, check the data in the Global address book and remove the customer from the Global Address book too, if it exists.

No, those customer data are new.

For example, in the system, there are 100 customer records, from CU001 - CU100, now I have additional customer data, say CU101 - CU110. That's why I set the number sequence to manual and import these 10 customer records. However, I got the error message.

Therefore, the error message doesn't make sense to me.

Can you post a screenshot of your source file? It almost looks like the system thinks you're trying to update an existing customer that doesn't yet exist.

I keep the data simple for importing.

All customer accounts are definitely new in the system.
