Collation and server compatibility level for production onprem BC database

Hello, default collation for czech onprem demo db is Czech_100_CI_AS, but it was Czech_100_CS_AS before. Can there be any issues running on Czech_100_CS_AS, or why the change has occured? What may be prefered option for our onprem solution?

The Compatibility LVL is 130 in the demo db, which is not supported by the minimum requirements. Our db experts say that they before experienced issues from the increasing the compatibility lvl. We would like to run this on SQL19, can we increase the compatibility lvl to our server value without any issues?

    Thanks all for response.

So I assume it can be both Czech_100_CS_AS or Czech_100_CI_AS ..

So the main question is probably does it anyhow matter if the collation in the database for business central is case sensitive or case insensitive?

In the case Allow application and tenant databases to differ in collation | Microsoft Learn i understand that the view is on different collation between countries, but it does not state if the CI / CS should be used in the database level.

@Ramesh Kumar Thks for your reply..

We re in live project migrating from BC14 to BC26. We have already performed first migration of code from CAL to AL and also first attempt for data migration.

We have 4 environments to play with Dev, Test, PP, Prod. So we may have enough time time test everything on different test when we move forward with the project and will be production ready.

However i would like to know the default and recommended collation what will work the best in the future. Coding for Czech_100_CI_AS may be different from Czech_100_CS_AS.. We want to minimize the issues that our developers may be solving because of the change of the collation in the database in the business central.

    data: 3TB+ over 50 companies,
system: czech onprem win / k8s
    customizations: a lot

What else do you need to know to tell us what is the prefered collation for the db?

    Hi,

Have you tried migrating the data in a test environment first to identify any potential issues before moving to production? It's difficult to provide a clear answer without knowing the specifics of your data, system, and customizations.

    Thanks
    Ramesh
