Update Analysis view on Posting - Resource cost?

We are starting to use Analysis Views for reporting on the shortcut dimensions, the question I have is whether we should have the /update on posting/ turned on and what the resource cost is on that vs. running the update before running reports. In the sandbox it hasn't seemed to be too bad to have it turned on, but that isn't representative of all the transactions/users being in and working. Any experience?

Hi, from my personal experience, this doesn't affect performance much. But if you are worried, you can manually run Update Analysis Views each time.
Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

    Thanks.

If this is turned on, You will only notice some impact on the time it takes to post transaction, when You will be posting a large number of lines. Usually for standard Invoice posting this additional time cannot be noticed by user - as it is like additional 5-10% of those 3-4 seconds the posting takes.
But when you have like 1000 or 10000 lines, the standard posting takes like a minute, and then You can notice that the posting will take like extra 5-10seconds if the Analysis view is being updated at the time of Posting.

It is recommended to turn it on for reports, that several people are using, as from my experience - even if Users know that they have to press the Update manually, in 2 out of 12 months, usually it is forgotten and not always users remember that wrong numbers in reports are because of that.
