PV Lookup Crashes on Enter Key

We are currently working to move from SL 2011 to SL 2018. While testing, we have found our PV look up screens crash not only the lookup list, but the underlying data entry window as well.
For example:
We are adding items to a Bill of Material. You press F3 to lookup a part number. In the 'new' PV search box, I enter the first three digits to filter to the proper 'section' of my item list. If I press 'enter' while the list is populating, it will crash the lookup, and the bill of material screen, losing any information that was keyed in already.
An additional notice is that if I press 'TAB' instead of ENTER, then the screen does not crash, however the enter key is configured to work as TAB (per user options).
Anyone else experience this behavior and potentially any solution to this?

    Hello Randall,

    I found that this is bug : Bug 39345--Voucher entry screen closes when PVing on the vendor ID enter a partial vendor ID, then pressing the enter key before any results are displayed.

    There are reports of the issue in other PV lookups.

    Yes, we are on the latest CU.

    As for the demo DB, it will not really help me if it works there or not. I need this to work on my live data, as it does in 2011. We are not using customized PV's, so if there is a problem with the number of results being returned, MS may need to getting rid of an obviously inferior lookup process.

    Anyhow, it is registered at this time as a bug with MS, and I am awaiting a resolution to be worked out, thanks for your input.

    Hello I'm assuming that you on the latest CU2 for 2018? This is the version I tested your issue in and could not reproduce

    Have you tried this on a demo db...Demo doesn't have extensive PV lookups...its not running through 100's of items for the majority of them..if not all of them.

    Thanks for the idea, Stuart.

    I tried this as described. I deleted a user, added the user account back in, signed on with said user, and then set the options back to Enter=Tab.  Despite this, I got the same crash behavior.

    Randall, Since you're moving/upgrading the databases, I wonder if a bit of corruption has gotten in the way. Have you tried deleting a user, then re-entering them, and finally adding the Enter - Tab option?

    I can confirm this is definitely not only in Distribution. Every instance in which a PV screen is involved, the enter key crashes the look up and the base screen. When looking up a Sales Order in Sales Order Entry. When trying to open an item detail in Inventory Items. When looking up a user in User Maintenance from the Administration module. And the list goes on.

    This issue is definitely in the PV 'screen' itself, regardless of module it is being called from.   Also, I am on 2018 CU2, version 10.02.30430.00 which has been installed to our new environment directly by SL Cloud Solutions and our reseller/partner. Nether of whom have yet to come up with an explanation or solution to the issue, which is why I am now reaching out to the community for ideas.

    Hello,

    I don't have much in Bill of Material, so I didn't test it there, however I tested typing in a partial, it finds it right away, Enter = Tab is checked. I get no crashes, I tried vendors from voucher and adjustment, Project Maintenance and Journal transactions...could you recreate this in other modules? I'm on CU2 if you don't have it applied you might do that first.

    Otherwise it just may be specific to BOM and I can have a Distribution agent test the issue.
