Budgeting on inventory issuance

Hi All,

I have two question regarding budgeting.

1. We normally purchased items on department request and department have specific budget that already allocated, during creation of PR and PO need to check available budget but consumption of budget may have decided on Movement journal. i.e. give the expense account on movement journal to consume the budget.

So how we can handle this ?? 

2. We have 'Work Plan' that created and assign budget to work plan so department need to specify work plan for budget consumption. There is an option to use dimension for work plan, is there any other way ??

    Just Curious, Inventory Movement cut the budget on Budget vs Actual, but we cannot see on Budget Control Statistic.

    Theres will be missed perception when We look Actual in Budget Actual but different on Actual on Budget Control Statistic.

    Hi,

    Does your inventory movement journal create a financial voucher?

    Why do you need to have a budget control for movement journals? What is the underlying business scenario for this?

    Would be great if you could clarify.

    HI Guys,

    I have a question. Does budget control apply on inventory movement journal, for example, I created a movement journal and in the offset account i selected a Ledger account with main account type as expense. Now if I have a budget defined on this ledger account so will the budget control apply on the movement journal if this account is selected as the offset account.

    In my case, I have created a budget for a ledger account and defined that account as an offset account on inventory movement journal but no impact was seen. In addition, on the inventory movement journal I cannot see the functionality for "perform budget check"

    Can somebody help me out.

    Hi Rahat Ali,

    I have not seen that you can use specific posting profiles for Budget purposes.

    Yet, there is a specific encumbrance functionality available that seems to go into the direction you are looking for.

    Thx Ludwing, after long discussion with finance people now decided that budget will be consumed on PO.

    Another question, right now we are using posting profile, can we configure posting profile for budgeting, if yes then how ?

    Hi Rahat Ali,

    So the 'purchase' process is not the crucial thing for you but rather the time the items are consumed.

    Can't you fix this by budgeting on the main account level?

    Example:

    At the time you purchase, items or expenses are posted to account 1234, which is not subject to budget control.

    When you consume the item for example through movement or other journals, account 9876 is used that is subject to budget control.

    Wouldn't that fit your scenario?

    if an item purchased by one department but consumed by other department, how can we manage the departmental budget ?

    Work Plan: Department normally give budget work plan wise for the year so they want to monitor the budget according to work plan, work plan examples are:

    -office renovation

    - printing and stationary

    - etc

    Can you elaborate on that?

    What I don't understand from your scenario is the movement journal and work plan issue. Isn't the idea of a budget preventing people from spending too much?

    Yet, when you have the items already on stock the money is already spend.

    Does a budget check at this stage make sense?
