The Dynamics NAV and Business Central community, including the ArcherPoint technical staff, is made up of developers, project managers, and consultants who are constantly communicating, with the common goal of sharing helpful information with one another to help customers be more successful.
As they run into issues and questions, find the answers, and make new discoveries, they post them on blogs, forums, social media...so everyone can benefit. We in Marketing watch these interactions and never cease to be amazed by the creativity, dedication, and brainpower we’re so fortunate to have in this community—so we thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this great information with everyone who might not have the time to check out the multitude of resources out there? So, the ArcherPoint Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developer Digest was born. Each week, we present a collection of thoughts and findings from NAV/BC experts and devotees around the world. We hope these insights will benefit you, too.

Saurav wants us to know: “Dockers are changing. We will also have to update our Docker cmdlets.” Freddy’s blog, Changing the Way You Run Business Central in Docker, explains that Microsoft will stop producing Docker images and will instead publish builds as artifacts. Learn why and how to be prepared for this change.
Bill W reports: “The new artifact model of building containers requires that the container be able to resolve and download external components. Starting to run into failed container creation as it can't resolve go.microsoft.com. Background: https://github.com/microsoft/navcontainerhelper/issues/1042
Bill W shares this post from Steven Renders: How Do I: Create a Mini Report Inspector?
Kyle is excited: “ kick *ss!”
Bill continues: “It's probably because the old dataset viewer was a table of data, but this is very hard to follow or see patterns in the data. Maybe if there's a way to shred this into a table so it's at least familiar? It's a step in the right direction, and this is essentially what the Report testing uses to validate the report.”
Bill follows up: “You can open the XML in Excel. Thanks, Tom Hunt! Opening in Excel and then filtering the dataset allows you to see the patterns in the XML.” You can vote for Steven’s suggestion here: Report Inspector
Kyle shares another: “Developer Tip of the Day: It isn't recursion if you use overloads.”
