License requirement for the Media and Entertainment Accelerator

Hello,

The Media and Entertainment Accelerator (MEA) is supposed to be supported on Dynamics 365 sales and Power Apps.

I would like to use the accelerator to create faster entities ( event, sessions, guest,...) to manage events.

But I am sure of the required licenses...

-> Can we use it with Dynamics 365 for sales professional?  This version of Dynamics is limited to 15 custom entities. Or do we need Dynamics 365 for sales Enterprise because of the entities restriction?

-> Can we use it on Power Apps ( per app license)? Correct me if I am wrong but I think we cannot use Marketing lists and quick campaign without having a Dynamics license?

-> Do we need Dynamics for Marketing to use the accelerator or is the MEA a "solution" to give more features than the default sales app but less than choosing for Dynamics 365 for Marketing ?

Thanks for you help on clarify this.

I have the same question (0)

Thank you for your question on licensing for the Media & Entertainment Accelerator.

There are 5 solutions included in the M&E Accelerator, plus the sample model-driven apps and sample data:

The first three solutions (Media Common,Events & Venue Management, Sports Management) simply requires a Power Apps license,

The last two solutions (Media Products Sales & Ticketing, Sports Event Product Sales & Ticketing) requires a Dynamics 365 Sales license (either Professional or Enterprise)

A license for Dynamics 365 Marketing is not required to use the M&E Accelerator.

You many also notice that we created a sample Portal App witht he M&E Accelerator that you can try at Home Â· Media Registration Portal (powerappsportals.com) and you can download for on our GitHub page at https://github.com/microsoft/Industry-Accelerator-Media

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any additional questions we can answer.

    Thanks for clarifying this.

About the possibility to use the accelerator with Power Apps:

There is no marketing lists or quick campaigns when using Power Apps. Because of these missing features, I don't see how to manage the group of people or creating target groups to send to MailChimp or add a target to an event for example. Any idea to replace marketing lists and quick campaigns?

About the possibility  to use the accelerator in Sales Pro:

I will probably be limited because of the 15 custom entities limitation. Installing the 2 first solutions will probably add more than that, correct ?

Can we install the above solutions several times on different sandboxes in order to test them?

If I install one of the solutions and a V2 becomes available, will I be able to upgrade my V1 version ( in production)? I should not customize it too much, I presume ?

RE: License requirement for the Media and Entertainment Accelerator

As mentioned in the last response, in order to install the first 3 solutions of the Media & Entertainment Accelerator you just need a Power Apps license. That will get you all the entities per solution as detailed in the query.prod.cms.rt.microsoft.com/.../RE4LE3B document which is posted at appsource.microsoft.com/.../msftmedia.mediaindustrysolutions. If you also have a D365 Sales Pro license, you can then also use the other 2 solutions, and you will not be prevented from those additional managed entities even with a Pro license. You can install the solutions independently in different environments and test them.

Regarding future upgrades, yes we will attempt to always provide you with an upgrade path to be able to migrate from an older version to a a newer one. We rarely if even depreciate entities, so it's usually either an entity or attribute add or change. You should be able to customize as you see fit without worry. Our upcoming V2 version of the Media & Entertainment Accelerator is focusing on adding Virtual Live Event support via MS Teams within Media Events and also adding an array of new data entities to support Content Production and Collaboration workflows, so that still shouldn't interfere with any custom functionality or entites you add.

Please keep the questions coming! Thank you.

Ok, so  you can confirm the entities created by the accelerator do not count in the max 15 entities of the sales pro license? I can create 15 other custom entities in my CRM + use the accelerator with added entities?

If yes, that's cool as I first rejected the option to test the accelerator because of the number of custom entities...

Yes, the entities from the Accelerator are "Standard" entities and won't count in your 15 custom entities of the Sales Pro License.

There is no license required for the Media and Entertainment Accelerator. You can access and use it with your existing Power Platform or Dataverse license.
